Challancin - Mont Court de Bard
Loop hike “Challancin - Mont Court de Bard”: discovering the winter look of mountains, the snow, the avalanches, the safety in the mountains, the adaptation strategies of animals and plants in winter, etc…
This itinerary goes through the protection forest located above the village of Challancin (1.640 m a.s.l.) and ends at the watershed ridge separating the valley of Vertosan and the main valley. From Challancin we take the paved farm track up to the second turn. After about a kilometer, we take a rather steep path, on the right, and we head on up to the farm track that goes to the chalets of Arpilles. From here we take the trail that crosses a creek and gently climbs through the woods; we then take the right up to Mont-Court-de-Bard at 2.250 masl, where we have lunch on a wide, beautiful clearing, enjoying an amazing view stretching 180 degree from Mont Blanc to Mont Emilius.
