Chabod hut -  Vittorio Emanuele II hut

We walk on the right orographic side of Valsavarenche, in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park. We start from Praviou-dessus (1.830 masl), we go uphill through the wood and walk for about 2h30 until we get to Chabod hut (2.700 masl), where we can enjoy an amazing view on the north face of the Gran Paradiso. We then continue southwards, through rocky areas and high altitude pastures dominated by the Testa di Montcorvé and finally get to Vittorio Emanuele II hut (2.270 masl), the classic starting point for the numerous climbers who, every year, ascend the normal route to the Gran Paradiso (4.061 masl). When we leave the V. Emanuele hut, we take the old royal hunting mule track down, created in the second half of the XIXth century so that the King Victor Emmanuel II could make his hunting trips. When we reach the hamlet of Pont (1.961 masl), we go back to the starting point walking on a short stretch of the regional road 23 of Valsavarenche.
